Polish people have similar hobbies and interests as Americans. For instance, many Polish people enjoy to hobbies such as knitting, scrap-booking, and drawing pictures. Polish people play games very similar to those enjoyed by Americans, especially as children. While American play a game called "Hide N Go Seek" in which they hide themselves, Polish children play a game where they hide valuable things, in a game called "Glass Piece Secrets". During breaks in between classes children play a game called, "Guma", which is very similar to jump rope which American often played during recess. One of the most popular games kids play in Poland is called "Serso". "Serso" requires two players, each holding a stick, who try to catch a ring that is tossed at them using the stick. Polish people are also very fond of sports. Currently, one of the most popular sports in Poland is Volleyball. Volleyball has grown in popularity because Poland often competes with other countries which stimulates international rivalries . Additionally, they enjoy sports such as boxing, fencing, racing, weight lifting, and football. As in American culture, Polish people also enjoy watching and playing American football and basketball. The Polish culture is also very proud of their motorcycle speedway racing sport, thanks to Tomasz Gollob, who is a widely known and very successful Polish rider. The Polish community also enjoy skiing, hiking, and mountain biking on their many gorgeous mountain sites.
Arts & Entertainment
In the 1970's, there were a variety of movies produced in Poland, many of which were nominated or won awards. Roman Polanski was a world renowned Polish producer who wrote screenplays including Macbeth, What?, and Tess. A new generation of Polish artists introduced new art techniques, and they were especially focused on poster art work. These posters were referred to as conceptual posters and were identifiable by their abstract characteristics.
